The 11th Annual Blairsville Extreme Adventure Race (BEAR) will take place on Saturday, September 20th, 2025. The race will start at Meeks Park in Blairsville, GA on Saturday with a bus ride to Jake Rabbit Trailhead in North Carolina. Teams will be exploring the mountains, rivers, lakes, trails, and beautiful woods surrounding Blairsville, Georgia, home of the highest mountain in Georgia. New location will send teams to a never-used area before in any year in North Carolina with some of the best mountain bike trail and new waterway to paddle. Divisions include solo, 2-, 3-, or 4-person teams, coed or open (same-sex).

Details

This 10-hour adventure race is perfect for sport or family teams looking to have some fun discovering the outdoors with adventure racing. Easy to read and simple navigation will take you to some hidden spots around Blairsville.

Distances are always based on your team's abilities and speed in adventure racing; however, you can expect between 25-35 miles of mountain biking, 8-9 miles of trekking with 6-10 miles of canoeing.

Check-in starts at 6:00am to 7:30am with instructions and (pre-plotted) map followed by a pre-race meeting at 7:30am.

All teammates must be present to check in and receive instructions. The later you are, the shorter the time to prepare. Your first discipline to start the race will be revealed during check-in.

We supply all canoes, paddles, and PFDs; however, teams may bring their own paddle gear if placed in paddle bags. Water and snacks will be provided at most transition areas; however, not guaranteed so bring water purification tablets.

Race Includes: t-shirt, food, and drink during the race, awards for each division, and dinner at the end of the race.

Bike rentals available at Blue Mountain Bikes.

Waivers

To speed up the check-in process on race day, please download and fill in the Warrior Liability Waiver for each team member and bring it to the race with you to check in.

 

Rules

Rules List is required for review and a copy will be carried during all races.

Mandatory Gear List is required for review before the event.
